Update #8

Hey everyone. I just wanted to give you a quick update and thank you for your prayers and concerns for us and our safety. Yesterday was supposed to be a day of more violence and protesting but thankfully it wasn't. There were large crowds of people gathered but there was also a strong military presence at every corner so that helped to quell the mobs. At least for now.
We had some people staying with us because it wasn't safe to go home. Several missionary families have evacuated, and all of us still here were in hibernation mode. As of now, things look "normal" except for the military/police presence all over town. School is back in session today but the situation is being heavily monitored and could change at any moment.  There is a big event that may cause trouble on Saturday so continue to pray.
Our internet has been in and out, and we have heard it is being monitored so I have not checked this out but I heard from a friend in America that if you google Unrest in Papua you can  find out more about what's going on.
The kids and I have to go to the Immigration office tomorrow for fingerprinting and then hopefully soon after that we will get our passports back.  It is a good thing that we didn't have to be evacuated since our passports have been in the Immigration Office since we got back from PNG. Pray that all goes well with this whole situation. It is quite the process to be living here legally and I will feel better when it is all done.
We are doing ok. Cale has been a bit scared but we have been talking through it. We all have our go bag packed just in case we need to leave quickly.
Keep praying for peace.
Love,
Rachel
