Rats!

Thursday

I can bet you a bushel of apples that our days were not alike today.  And here is why:  Garth and I were at the store with Cale when we noticed a rat/mouse running by.  Cale told one of the Indonesian workers, “tikus! (rat)”  The worker said, “Di mana?  (Where?)”  So Cale was looking under the racks to try to find it.  I was trying to buy bread and keep an eye on Cale, worried that he might get bit.  Then Cale went out of sight.  I was asking Garth, “Do you see him?  Where is he?”  A few moments later, Cale appears holding the rat by the tail.  The worker caught it and gave it to him.  I was trying to quickly usher Cale outside to get rid of it, Cale was pleading with me to keep the rat, (“Please Mommy.  I love it.  I will take really good care of it…”), and the rat was trying to bend his head up to where Cale’s fingers were holding onto his tail.  After many tears, he let the rat go.  (Sorry no pictures.)

Saturday

We had a dorm birthday this week-Maike turned 18!  She wanted to go to the beach for her special day so we all went today.  It was a beautiful day to be splashing around in the ocean.  We had to leave the beach by 1 so we could get home in time for the boys soccer game.  Wyatt, Isaiah, Josiah, Ben and Dani are on an Indonesian soccer team and this was their first game.  Most of the dorm went along to cheer and it was so fun to watch.  Right after that we had awards night at school.  Many of our dorm kids got sports or academic awards.  Two of our girls even got accept into the National Honor Society.

Now, at 11 pm I am ready to dream some peaceful dreams and drift off.

The soccer game today was at the military base.  The bleachers were tires.
