English,aerobics, and airplanes

One of the things about Indonesia that always gets us laughing is the way they try to print things in English but it usually doesn’t make sense. I bought Emma and Sophie Strawberry Shortcake notebooks and this is what it says on them-“Wishes the good luck forever to accompany about you! And wishes you to be joyful daily! Happy!” You should see the bumper stickers!?! Hilarious!
We have had a few bumps over the last few days-the cook from the other hostel didn’t show up so our cook, Ibu Poppi went over there to cook for them yesterday, which makes it stressful for our Ibu Yulli to try to cook here by herself, and today Sungsu found out he has strep throat…let’s hope he is the only one, then Sophie got off Garth’s motorcycle on the wrong side and burned her leg-ouch! BUT, on the good side, we are all healthy, and Garth is doing much better. He said he can definitely feel a change from a few days ago to now. YEAH!
Cale is doing really well with potty training-(or I guess, you could call it, grass watering). Good thing too because diapers are really expensive here. It costs about $ 20 for 28 diapers. He loves running around in undies. Today he ran out to dinner and pulled them down in the back and mooned everyone. You can tell he is related to Garth. Ha Ha.
I decided to try something new today and go to water aerobics. They have it every Mon and Thurs at the pool for an hour. Everyone brings their kids to play while the Mommies exercise. It was nice. I think I will do it again.
There was a little airplane scare here today. One of the mission planes from SIL was in the air ready to land when a light came on the panel signaling that the front wheel wasn’t coming down. It tried to land and touched down but then took off again. So the whole time we were out walking, we saw it circling in the air. We knew that some of the missionaries were on that flight and one kid here said his Dad was on it. Jodi and I kept watching, and finally saw it come in for landing. We heard sirens so we knew that emergency vehicles were present. We ran up to the top of the hill to get a better view.. Everything was ok, thankfully. It was able to land and taxi just fine. Thank you Lord!I am sure we will hear more about it in the morning.
Speaking of morning, I need to go to bed so I can wake up in the morning a happy person.
Love to all,
Rachel
