Shoes

Happy Saturday to you!  We have a fantastic breeze blowing through the trees this morning.  I love living up here on the top of the hill. The Indonesians do not like to feel any breeze of any kind. They think it brings sickness.  They will bundle up with jackets and turn off fans, and if they feel sick at all they will blame it on the wind.  They think we are crazy when we go outside during a windstorm.
Well, we are trying to get the dorm ready for when the kids come back on Monday. Garth's main job that day is making trips to the airport to pick everyone up. Hopefully we will all be ready for the start of school at 7:30 Tuesday morning.
I wanted to give you an update on Wyatt.  In November we had some blood work sent to Jakarta to hopefully figure out why he was so dizzy and his blood pressure was so high.  Well, I have tried, and TRIED to find out the results of those tests, but it seems that they are lost out in Neverland somewhere. So frustrating.  I don't know what else to do. He has been feeling good lately, so for that I am thankful. But I wish I had some definite answers.
Over the last few months I have talked to you about the dorm girls and I doing fundraisers to raise money for all of the girls on Sophie's Indonesian soccer team to have shoes. Many of them would share shoes, even if they were the wrong size, or one girls would wear one shoe and the other would wear the other shoe.  Well, we were able to raise quite a bit of money and their coach, Tammy was able to take them to a shoe store and buy shoes.  She also had to buy them socks because most of them didn't own even one pair of socks. Many of the girls had never been in a shoe store before and were so excited!!!!!!  Well, one of those girls, Legomina, 13 years old, died this week.  Not sure why. The parents just said that she never ate well, and never slept well, then died.  Well, they buried her with her new shoes and socks on.  She was so proud to be a part of the team and so excited about her shoes.  So sad. What a loss! But, I am happy to say that she heard the Gospel many times while she was a part of the team. It is a great ministry.  There are several expats that are pouring their lives into these kids, teaching them about soccer and God's love.  The program is called Papua United and was started by some good friends of ours. It gives these kids an alternative to wasting time hanging out in the streets, doing drugs or causing trouble.  They have a website if you want to know more.  You will definitely be able to pick my kids out from the pictures and videos-all that white skin. Haha.

Thanks for all of your prayers. You know I love ya!
Rachel
